- Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a complex yet common disease, and a leading cause of vision loss in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR). While several therapies for DME are currently available, including macular laser photocoagulation, corticosteroids, and anti-VEGF agents, clinical data on existing and emerging agents is continuously evolving. New information, coupled with the lack of consensus regarding the optimal management of DME, has contributed to gaps in patient management. Thus, this activity is intended to provide retina specialists with strategies for evaluating and incorporating data from clinical trials into practice in order to improve the management of patients with DME.
