- The precise, quantitative analysis of anterior segment shape is essential for corneal irregularity, primary glaucoma and cataract surgery. For instance, the applicable clinical situations are the corneal shape evaluation of keratoconus suspected, the evaluation of anterior chamber angle shape in primary angle-closure glaucoma, and the IOL calculation in patients with post-refractive surgeries including LASIK, and moderate/severe corneal astigmatism. Several optical coherence tomographies are used in these circumstances. Among them, the swept source optical coherence tomography (SSOCT, CASIA, Tomey Corporation) is a novel imaging device that employs a 1310 nm swept laser, which is the state of the art OCT device for the anterior-segment quantitative analysis mentioned above. In this seminar, we invite Dr. Naoyuki Maeda, Japan, and Dr. Tin Aung, Singapore, two distinguished clinician- scientists in the world, to understand the effectiveness of SSOCT.
