- Inspection to improve Glaucoma clinical levelSpeaker 1: Toru NakazawaGlaucoma, a major problem in an aging society, affects the retina, optic nerve, and even the brain. The wide-ranging effects of glaucoma make the effective use of objective, quantitative techniques, such as optical coherence tomography, laser speckle flowgraphy, and MRI, necessary to diagnose and follow the progress of the disease.Preemptive Medicine in Aging SocietySpeaker 2: Hiroo ImuraDue to progress of health care, aged population is increasing worldwide and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are becoming important medical and economic burden.NCDs develop through interplay between genetic and environmental factors, progressing slowly. It is important, therefore, to prevent disease onset by predicting NCDs based on genetics and biomarkers and introducing early intervention. This is a preemptive approach which is expected to reduce social and economic burden.
