≪Organizer Abstract≫
It is predicted that the rate of older adults among the population of many countries will accomplishes a rise in the near future. The older adults are required to have the capacity to obtain, process, and comprehend information about health and the medical care to send fruitful healthy-longevity lives. This capacity is defined as health literacy. Several studies have indicated that low healthy literacy is correlated with the unhealthy state. However, older adults are vulnerable to the information comprehending which is important component of health literacy because decline in cognition function by aging becomes the barrier of the comprehending. Actually, the sigh "to be incomprehensible" by the older adults can be heard everywhere in Japan. In this session, we want to examine underling mechanism of uncomprehending by older adults by showing cases in Japan and discuss the role of their health literacy on a fruitful healthy-longevity life.
