≪Organizer Abstract≫
This symposium explores personality and psychopathology across the life span. We start off with studies on adolescent-specific characteristics. A first study outlines an early detection and mentalization-based intervention program for adolescents with borderline personality disorder. A clinical staging model will be formulated. A second study examines SWAP-200 items identified to be sensitive for adolescence-related content for differential item functioning in adolescent versus older-adult psychiatric patients and evaluates the putative relation with psychopathology related neurocognitive functioning. Next, in a third paper, we study age as a moderator for the relationship of maladaptive personality traits with deficits in the sense of self. Next we focus specifically on older adults. Therefore the fourth paper explores the efficacy of individual schema therapy in older adults, applying a multiple baseline case series design. The fifth study will investigate specific diagnostic, therapeutic and aging aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorders ASD in later life, using expert opinions.
