≪Organizer Abstract≫
The goals of nurturing individuality and relatedness are essential tasks for humans. However, different cultures have engaged with them in different ways and have not only identified the ideals and pathways but have also organized the life world and group processes accordingly. In most cultural contexts there is something deep which holds things together. These kinds of in-built mechanism put in by the culture are the focus of this symposium. The symposium examines the kinds of interactions and group process that facilitate harmony. What makes people and groups come together, feel the closeness and engage in acts of reciprocity, cooperation and mutual celebration are examined. The presentations explore the challenges and ways of negotiating meanings and experiences voicing harmony, co-existence and syncretic values and ways of thinking.
