≪Organizer Abstract≫
In this symposium an in-depth examination of cultural diversity, its benefits and challenges, will be presented. In the first presentation, conditions under which diversity can be beneficial to societies are discussed. In the second presentation, a dual process of diversity will be discussed based on a study in South Africa. The model highlights conditions under which diversity can provide enhancing or impeding effects on work outcomes. In the third presentation, a review of selected research will be provided to identify themes that highlight the positive benefits of diversity. In the fourth presentation, empirical evidence will be presented to highlight successes and challenges of multiculturalism in Canada.
