≪Organizer Abstract≫
This symposium will describe the work of the World Health Organization (WHO) on the development of the classification of mental and behavioural disorders in the Eleventh Revision of the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-11). The first presentation will describe how global evidence is being collected in the context of the field studies of the proposed classification in multiple languages around the world. The second presentation will examine how classification systems are used in daily clinical practice by mental health professionals in seven 'mega-countries' of more than 100 million pople. The third presentation will describe field studies results in Russian speaking countries and the fourth will discuss the implications of an ICD-11 field study on eating disorders in China. The final presentation will descibe field studies currently taking place in Japan, including clinic-based field studies in a network of 23 sites.
