Black Hole Illusion (BHI) in approaching is a common type of spatial disorientation (SD) of the pilot, which pilot hasn't grasped a good of time and space cues in surrounding environment.In order to further investigate the mechanism of the BHI, this study has revealed time and space factors to the mechanism of BHI .We have trained 380 Chinese carrier pilots in the flight simulation.The 6 experiments used X-PLANE analog software, the results showed that: (1) spatial cues:distance and terrain density may affect BHI ; (2) time cues: the perception of the the time task and sequence of the lighting system may affect BHI .Then the experiments in actual flight showed that: (3) BHI also depends on the different phases of flight, which the early stages of instrument flight rules (IFR) in approach helped to reduce BHI, and visual flight rules (VFR) in late approach to reduce BHI.
