Addiction among adolescence: the role of Emotional Competence

Emotional competence is the integrative component of personal wellbeing, and addictive behavior as the major source of emotional instability and anxiety, which could be controlled by Emotional Competence (EC).EC forms in the process of emotional activity, representing set of emotional skills, including emotional intelligence. This study aims to investigate interconnection between addiction and Emotional Competence among adolescents. The Emotional Intelligence was taken into analysis as the component of EC. In this regard the methods of K.Young test on addictive behavior, Emotional Intelligence test of Lusin were used in our study. Findings showed that, the Emotional intelligence by Lusin and K.Young addiction test revealed positive Pearson correlation in p<0,01 level (.489**),which confirms the role of Emotional Intelligence as a component of Emotional Competence in addictive behavior among adolescents. Thus, the emotional intelligence as a mediator can affect on the level of addictive behavior.
