The Trinity of Grammatical Person as a New Framework for Psychology

[Speaker] Kawazu, Shigeo:1

The first-person aspects of the human existence such as the consciousness and the subjective wishes are in the state of antagonism with the third person aspects of the human existence such as the brain and the objective demands. The difficulties in building a bridge across the first and the third person realities of the existence may be solved by the mediation between the divided realities through the emergent reality of the second person, which may be considered as the grammatical person of reconciliation between the opposing realities. A theory is proposed that the human existence is structured as a composed trinity of the first, the second and the third person. The trinity of grammatical person may be metaphorically related to the Trinity in Christian theology. A holistic picture of the human existence is presented as the trinity of the first, the second and the third person.
