Clinical supervision in the South African context

[Speaker] Pillay, Anthony L:1
1:University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa(Republic of South Africa))

As part of the symposium reflecting on supervision through the lens of culture, setting, regulation, and ethics, this presentation focusses on the process and experiences within the South African context. As a multicultural society, and one in transition politically and economically, there are a number of challenges that impact on clinical psychology training and supervision. While supervision is a regulatory requirement, there is an absence of formal or mandatory supervisor training regulations, which means a lack of uniform standard or approach. In addition, the presentation will address some of the ethical implications for supervisors and supervisees.
