The objective of this qualitative research is to explore how culture influences the cross-cultural psychoanalysis and psychotherapy via internet. Nine Chinese trainees were semi-structure interviewed individually, and all of them got professional training in the China American Psychoanalytic Alliance. They met their foreign therapists/analysts online 2-4 times per week and lasted 2-5 years. Content analysis result showed: 1) Four reported a positive expectation to another culture enhanced the effect of expression and willingness. 2) Eight reported there was a significant difference between their own and their therapists/analysts' cultural backgrounds. 3) What most interesting was that cultural barrier could inspire the understanding at same time. 4) Almost every interviewee mentioned that there was little chance to have dual relationship if he chose a foreign therapist/analyst. 5) Cross-cultural experience of both parties would have an effect on the processing of psychoanalysis therapy.
