Although mindfulness-based training has proven to be effective in treating different health and mental health conditions and improving overall quality of life, formal mindfulness practices may not attract the general community to participate due to perceived boredom or misconception. To expand the promotion of well-being through mindfulness strategies, New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association in Hong Kong strategically and creatively designed a series of activities and tools with mindfulness elements. The activities aim at giving a taste of mindfulness through such interest classes as yoga, tea appreciation, zentangle, etc. Interested participants can further deepen their practice through a mindfulness mobile phone application with soundtracks from 3 to 20 minutes. Formal mindfulness programs, including Mindfulness-based Stress reduction, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, and Mindful Parenting are offered to needed individuals. With varied depths of mindfulness classes, the general public can flexibly choose the types of informal and formal mindfulness activities to promote their well-being.
