We investigated the function of visuo-spatial serial order memory of the elderly using Corsi Blocks Task including forward and backward recall. As a secondary task, participants were required to conduct serial articulatory suppression. We found lower performance in the backward condition than in the forward condition. An increase in the order errors occurred by the serial articulatory suppression was shown in both forward and backward recall. In contrast, younger participants showed an increase in the order errors only in the backward condition. These results indicate a decline of visuo-spatial serial order memory with age.
