This study aimed to develop a three-day ICT-based mental health learning program for Japanese employees and to investigate its effects. The program consisted of 3 parts; the first part was designed to improve knowledge of stressors, stress reactions, and depression, as well as skills for self-monitoring and behavior activation using web applications. The second part was designed to learn how to improve mental-health resilience. The last part included lectures and group work about cognitive distortion, cognitive reconstruction, and assertive communication.
The 3-day ICT-based learning program was carried out on October 8, 15, and 29, 2015. The subjects were newly-promoted 40 public employees working in Tokyo.
Post-learning survey showed a high level of satisfaction, and indicated that the program enhanced awareness of the importance of stress management and mental-health resilience. It was concluded that ICT-based mental health learning program in occupational and organizational fields has promising prospects.
