Elucidating the development of human central motor system

[Speaker] Naito, Eiichi:1
1:CiNet, NICT (Japan)

The development of sport expertise is associated with deliberate and intensive practice, often initiated at early age. In many sports societies, age between 8 to 12 years old is often considered as "Golden age", which is an exceptionally important period in one's life in terms of the development of human motor functions. Despite no doubt that the central motor system (CMS) is, in general, enormously growing during this period, detail knowledge how the CMS develops during this period is still largely lacking in the system neuroscience. Recently, we have started to systematically elucidate the development of CMS for this period. In this talk, I will provide neuroimaging evidence and discuss the development of cerebro-cerebellar interaction.
