International students studying in Japan have various cultural backgrounds. For some international students, it is not easy to seek for help because of thier cultural values or to come to counseling in a foreign country, Japan. It is important to implement programs to reach out to students with needs and connect them to counseling services if necessary. This presentation reports on-campus efforts to reach out to international students in a university located in the suburb of Tokyo. The efforts include psychoeducational programs to promote mental health in cross-cultural settings, informal counseling for at-risk students, and on-campus collaboration between health center and international student center.
