Description
Phakic IOL(PIOL) has a long history in correction refractive error, although the prototype of current model PIOLs have been used for 20 years. In this session long-term follow up reuslts as well as the current status of PIOL will be discussed. Three types of PIOLs, categorized by their intraocular position, will be included: angle-supported anterior chamber, iris-fixated anterior chamber, and posterior chamber (usually fixated in the ciliary sulcus). Advantages and disadvantages of each type of IOL, the selection criteria, and the surgical techniques will be reviewed
