- Phakic IOLs remain the best option for correcting high ametropia in patients with clear lens, providing better quality of vision than any other procedure especially lasik. However, safety of the implantation requires some precautions in selection of the patient and consideration of anatomical parameters in order to guaranty a perfect lens sizing and by the way the success of the surgery. Advantages, specificities and limitations of available models based on different location, respectively posterior chamber, iris supported and angle supported will be discussed. Whatever the concept, a long, strict and periodical follow up is required particularly focused on endothelium and angle changes. Tricks and pitfalls for surgical procedure, accurate IOL calculation and exam timetable will be debated by the 6 invited experts.
