This symposium aims to provide a glimpse into our experiences with ocular trauma and HIV-related eye disease in South Africa. The first lecture, which explores challenges of and solutions to our trauma epidemic, will be followed by a short pearls-and-pitfalls type presentation relating to adult ocular trauma. HIV-related ocular disease will then be discussed under the sub-topics of: opportunistic posterior segment infections, sight-threatening panuveitis, ocular surface neoplasms, and optic neuritis.
