- Why the need for glaucoma drainage devices (GDDs)? What are the differences between the different devices available? How would one best insert these different devices? How does one minimize complications including hypotony and plate encapsulation? What outcomes might surgeon and patient anticipate? How do these 'traditional' devices differ conceptually and in reality from the so-called newer 'minimally invasive glaucoma techniques and devices'? What about the ongoing controversy between glaucoma drainage devices and modern trabeculectomy? All these will be tackled by an expert faculty from around the Asia Pacific Region and the world so that audience members should leave the session with updated and expanded perspectives of how to incorporate GDDs into their glaucoma management strategies and when needed, how to maximize benefit and minimize possible complications for their patients.
