Description
Major advances have occurred in the biology and treatment of ocular melanomas. The molecular pathology of these tumors has developed significantly. Ocular treatment has improved considerably with advances in brachytherapy, proton beam radiotherapy and surgical resection. Estimation of survival prognosis has become much more accurate thanks to multivariate analysis of genetic, histologic and clinical data. The management of patients with conjunctival melanoma has improved due to better terminology and staging, as well as enhanced multi-modality therapy.
