Description
Macular dystrophies are a common cause of childhood blindness and age related macular degeneration is a major problem in the Western world. Increased knowledge of their genetics improves our understanding of the pathogenesis of these diseases and opens the way to new treatments. A correct clinical diagnosis is however of the utmost importance. This symposium aims at discussing the current concepts in selected macular dystrophies and will highlight diagnostic strategies and the place of new treatments.
