Description
Both multifocal IOLs and modified monovision approaches employing traditional monofocal IOLs are well accepted options to enhance the range of unaided vision and reduce spectacle dependence following cataract surgery. A growing number of studies comparing these approaches highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each. According to market survey, demand of multifocal IOLs and monovision approach have been increasing and will be increased for the next several years. Extended depth of focus monofocal IOLs could further enhance modified monovision alternatives thereby expanding the options to correct presbyopia at the time of cataract surgery.
