Objective
 
The disease profiles and the severity of Thyroid Eye Disease ('TED') vary greatly among patients of different ethnic groups. Management should be individualized to address the disease processes and anatomical among patients of different ethnic groups. The ability to identify relevant physical findings, medical and social history that are clinically relevant is important in order to achieve good treatment outcome..
 
The objectives of this course are to: 1) illustrate the many challenging clinical problems present in TED patients from different ethnic background; 2) impart important clinical skills in the interpretation of clinical features and essential investigations; and 3) demonstrate the formulation of suitable treatment regime suitable for an individual patient.
 
The modification of disease process, more accurately by appropriate medication and surgery that is individualized, is aimed to control and arrest disease process, minimize morbidity and restore satisfactory functional and cosmetic outcome for TED patients.
 

Summary of Content/Synopsis of the course
The course will begin with short didactic lectures outlining the clinical manifestations, the assessment of TED in different patients and the latest treatment options available today. Conservative, medical and surgical treatments will be illustrated and discussed on patients based-clinical cases presentation; and detailed elaboration of choice of treatments such as prism correction as conservative measures for myopathy, institutions of intravenous methylprednisolone for active disease and videos demonstration on surgical interventions ranging from muscle surgery, bony and fat decompression, and corrective eyelid surgeries
 
On completion of this course, attendees will improve very much in their clinical knowledge and competence in the diagnosis of a good mix of TED patients of different ethnic background as well understand the many treatment regimes suitable for TED patients.
