High Quality Distance and Near Vision with Dual Optic Accommodating IOL: Two Years Follow-Up

Objective/Purpose
To study visual outcomes for far, intermediate and near after Synchrony IOL(Abbott Medical Optics, USA)implantation.

Materials/Patients
19 patients (33 eyes) underwent SynchronyIOL implantation.Follow
up visits were performed up 2 y. po. Contrast sensitivity and
occurrence of halos were also assessed. Defocus curve analysis was applied.

Methods


Results and Conclusion
RESULTS: Mean patient age was71.52±7.02ys.Distance UCVA was0.03±0.04logMAR at18months. Near Vision27/20±4.47 EDTRS with correction 0.81 ± 0.91 at 24 months.Intermediate30.25± 3.24/20EDTRS. No contrast sensitivity penalization
occurred.Quality of vision study detected moderate halos in14.3%of the
patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Synchrony dual-optic accommodative IOL appeared to be clinically safe and effective. UCVA safe for car driving was achieved within1month
Intermediate and near vision were satisfactory within1week.
