≪Organizer Abstract≫
Human adaptively controls own body or extra-body tools. In this symposium, we discuss effective control of them in the context of driving and rehabilitation, especially focusing on drivers' or patients' attention, awareness, and the sense of agency. We consider following phenomena. Autonomous vehicles lead drivers less attentive, and lose their awareness and the sense of agency for driving. The similar situation might be true for some brain-damaged patients who have paralyzed limbs. In addition, some spatial neglect patients are known to show dissociation between attention and awareness. Psychological or neural mechanisms behind these phenomena are discussed including recent basic findings in related research fields.
