≪Organizer Abstract≫
Athletic performance involves diverse cognitive processes such as sensation, perception, motor control, emotion, decision making, and interpersonal interaction, which cooperate exquisitely moment by moment. Findings of cognitive neuroscience provide athletes useful suggestions for improving their performance, and sports provide cognitive neuroscientists complex yet attractive research topics. The interplay of cognitive neuroscience and sports is accelerated by recent progress in information technology including wearable sensors, big data analysis, and multimodal interface. In this symposium, five leading scientists will introduce their own approaches to the athletic brain, and discuss the future directions in this emerging field.
