≪Organizer Abstract≫
Among the most exacerbating factors contributing to the deterioration of mental health and recidivism among our severely mentally challenged clients is the role of punitive legal consequences resulting from actions committed during their mental incapacitation. Further, the imposing of sanctions by the judicial system, often applied indiscriminately to the mentally challenged, can impede our clients' rehabilitation and reintegration within society.

A comparative study was conducted using our clients who have received legal services by staff attorney(s) as a part of a multidisciplinary care plan and those who have only utilized mental health services. The study measures the comparative mental health improvement of these two groups. The result demonstrated our desired outcome of reaching recovery goals by the group that used the multidisciplinary care plan. We practically helped our clients break through the vicious cycle of recidivism. A globally replicable recommendation is provided.
