This research attempts to re-establish the sense of community to slow down the decay of a rural community, to prevent the occurrence of social and psychological issues, and to establish connections and appreciation between people and their hometown.

With the perspective of re-establishing the community ecological contexts, this research applies the participatory action approach in a remote village in Hualien County, Taiwan. We try to improve the difficulties of children's life resulted from poverty and to establish a supporting system for their education.

Our research team establishes a good relationship with the community children by doing environment-friendly works, such as opportunities for children to participate in a charity shop and the education on productive processes of food. Through this project, we strengthened the emotional bound among children and reconstruct their feeling of belonging to their hometown. We expect that these children would believe they have influences toward their community and the future.
