The traumatic destiny in the context of Latin America's dictatorships

The works and movements of construction and preservation of political memory have multiplied in recent years among several Latin America countries, whose populations lived long periods of civil-military dictatorships between the 70's and 80's of the twentieth century. I will discuss the political, social and subjective importance of political memory works in some countries of South America (Brazil, Chile and Argentina) that today still fight in order to preserve and consolidate themselves as democratic nations. I will highlight, in these works, the memorials, artistic and archivistic strategies that enable renewed interpretations of deep and traumatic psychic experiences, which are preserved as history, experiences and research fields that, today, intend to estabilish a new ethics of remembering and forgetting.
