A Psychological Model for Risky Driving Behavior among Iranian Drivers

Aim: The purpose of this study was the prediction of risk-full driving perception base on the Personality traits & driving behaviors. Method: The method of this research was correlation. The population was including 2700 high risk-taking drivers in Tehran. Sampling method was at reach & candidates. 460high risk drivers were selected according to sampling formulation. For gathering the data 3 questionnaires were involved: Manchester driving behavior (Reason et al, 1990), NEO FFI-60 personality traits (Costa, and McCrae, 1989) and driving risk perception (Ulleberg, and Rundmo, 2001). Then, the methods of statistics (like: Pearson coefficient, regression and path analysis) were used for data analyses. Results: Results show driving behavior components and personality traits can predict risk-full driving perception. There are relationships between Personality traits, driving behavior and risk-full driving perception, and this model has goodness of fitness.
