In this presentation, the presenters describe the unique intersections of racism and anti-trans bias that transgender people of color around the world may experience when accessing mental healthcare services. Presenters draw upon first-person narratives of transgender people of color describing their counseling and psychological needs in order to discuss practice recommendations. Finally, the presenters will also discuss how transgender people of color around the world have participated in liberation movements in order to demand transgender-affirmative and necessary mental healthcare and describe how counselors, psychologists, and other helping professionals may be involved in advocacy efforts seeking to reduce racism and anti-trans bias in the settings in which they work.
