The study of factor structures of the Japanese version of Multicultural Personality Questionnaire:MPQ Short Form -from the point of view of cultural and social background-

This study examined factor structures of the Japanese version of Multicultural Personality Questionnaire : a 40 item short form (Van der Zee and van Oudenhoven,2000;2001;2013),a multidimensional instrument aimed at measuring multicultural effectiveness in student samples (N=238) in Japan. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that five reliable factors:Cultural Empathy, Openmindedness, Emotional Stability, and Flexibility.The reliability and validity are also considered.In addition,the results showed that some items and correlations among subscales were different from original English version, we therefore re-examined them in terms of cultural and social background in Japan. Relationship between intercultural experiences including acquiring foreign language and foctors of Multicultural Personality Questionnaire were also discussed.
