The purpose of this study was to examine the possible relation between burnout and parameters of positive functioning. As indicators of positive functioning, we consider three indicators: satisfaction with life, subjective well-being, a measure of professional development. We assume that indicators of positive functioning differently will appear in the structure of burnout in age groups. Methods, used for assessment, included: Maslach Burnout Inventory; Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) by Ed Diener; Subjective Well-being questionnaire by C.Ryff (Russian version); Special questionnaire "The professional development factors". Participants: a total of 200 adults were divided into four age groups: early adulthood aged 21-28; middle adulthood aged 29-34 and 35-44; later adulthood aged 45-59. The study showed that in members of the different age groups decrease of the burnout is ensured by the various characteristics of the positive functioning. We can suppose that positive functioning creates an additional mechanism for decrease of emotional burnout.
