Present study examined the effect of speech cost bias and probability bias on social anxiety. We hypothesized three models. First model assumed that speech estimation influences fear of being scrutinized during performance and fear of social interaction via cost bias, probability bias and fear of negative evaluation. Second model assumed that fear of negative evaluation influences fear of being scrutinized during performance and fear of social interaction via cost bias, probability bias and speech estimation. Third model assumed that probability bias influences fear of being scrutinized during performance and fear of social interaction via cost bias, fear of negative evaluation and speech estimation. Participants were 345 undergraduate students. The results of structural equation models supported the third model. The findings suggested that the cost bias had a strong effect to fear of being scrutinized during performance and fear of social interaction.
